An error occurred after adding repository ... How to fix?

I installed Mailpile onto Ubuntu 16.04 using the Adding Repository directions.

Shortly after installation, ubuntu started kicking out this error:

An error occurred, please run Package Manager from the right-click menu or apt-get in a terminal to see what is wrong. The error message was: 'Error: Opening the cache (E:Opening /etc/apt/sources.list.d/000-mailpile.list - ifstream::ifstream (13: Permission denied), E:The list of sources cound not be read.)'. This usually means that your installed packages have unmet dependencies.

Does anyone know how to fix what ever is wrong?

I’d say follow the instructions: Try running apt-get update in a terminal and see if it complains.

Any error messages it reports should be relatively google-able, or you’re welcome to post them here and see if we have any suggestions.
